We started Verसारa because we believe poetry is not a performance for the few. It is a way of paying attention — to the world, to each other, to the words that refuse to stay quiet inside us.
सार means essence. The core of something. The best of it. We believe every person who has ever felt something deeply — and reached for words to hold it — has a सार worth sharing. You don't need to have published. You don't need a degree. You just need to mean it.
Community is not a backdrop. It is the point. When you read your poem aloud and hear someone exhale — that is the work. When you read someone else's poem and feel your own life rearranged slightly — that is the work too. We gather not to perform, but to be moved, and to move others.
We take the work seriously. We believe that caring about line breaks, about the weight of a word, about what you leave out — is how you honour the feeling that made you write in the first place. We are here to grow as writers, not just to be heard.
Our name is proof. Verse and सार. English and Sanskrit. Latin script and Devanagari. We believe that poems exist in every tongue, every script, every silence between words. Verसारa is a place where languages live together without hierarchy.
We are application-based because we want people who genuinely want to be here — not people who stumble in. There is no test of talent. There is only one question we ask: do you love this? If the answer is yes, Verसारa is for you.
We are young writers, working poets, first-timers and obsessives. We share poems on Tuesday nights and workshop metaphors at midnight. We show up for each other's words because we know — someone once showed up for ours.
